Earl Baker is a native Baltimorean and the youngest of four children. During his childhood, he was faced with an incident that turned his life around. While swimming in a pool at the Holiday Inn in Milwaukee, Earl drowned and there was no one in sight to save him as he plunged into the depths of death.

As Earl began to grasp for his last breath, a lifeguard arrived. The lifeguard tried to revive him, but to no avail. Many saints stood around the pool that day and prayed for him as the events unfolded. As the saints prayed, Earl felt the hand of the Lord revive him and at that moment, he knew that if died, he would not have gone to heaven.

That event changed him and at the age of 15, Earl gave his life to the Lord. He realized that his life meant more than attending church or playing the piano. Earl realized that God had a special plan and purpose for his life. Soon after Earl's near-death experience, he continued to ask the Elders of the church to lay their hands on his fingers so that his gift of music could have a greater impact on the world.
